I donβt know why my teenagers think Iβm so cringeyβ¦ π
I was filming this on my Insta360 and had no idea she was even in the shot. It wasnβt until I got home and reviewed the footage that I realized she quietly scooted herself away from me. π€£
Traveling with teens sure keeps you humble! Btw, after we both cracked up after watching this, she gave me full permission to post it. π#momlifebelike #momofteens #familytravel #toofunny #machupicchu
Yes, I may have accidentally inhaled a few bugs, but getting to work alongside a biologist deep in the Amazon to collect and help identify new species was definitely one of the coolest things we did during our stay at Posada Amazonas.
The Discovering New Species program is part of a citizen science initiative between @wiredamazon and @rainforestexpeditions, helping researchers better understand the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon while giving visitors the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rainforest.
Weβre still waiting to find out if any of the specimens we collected are new to science. If we do discover a new speciesβ¦ what do you think we should name it? #familytravel #amazonrainforest #ecotourism #perutravel #travelinspo
Would you ever stay in a room without a wall⦠in the middle of the Amazon?
I have to admit, I was a little nervous at first, but all my worries melted away as soon as we arrived. The rooms felt so luxurious and cozy.
Now, did we get bugs? Yes, from time to time. Especially in the evenings, when the moths liked to come in and congregate around the lights. But honestly, that was about it. The mosquito nets worked great, and we all got incredible sleep with the sounds of the rainforest all around us. Would you do it? #posadaamazonas #familytravel #ecolodge #perutravel #amazonrainforest
The Amazon was one of the most incredible experiences weβve ever shared as a familyβ¦ and believe it or not, it was the easiest and most relaxing part of our entire trip to Peru.
If the Amazon is on your bucket list (and I really think it should be!), I canβt recommend Posada Amazonas enough. Itβs a beautiful, family-friendly eco-lodge that completely immerses you in the rainforest while still making the experience comfortable and accessible.
I just published a full blog post on Staying Blonde, where Iβm sharing everything about our stay, including our favorite excursions, what the open-air rooms are really like, family travel tips, and an exclusive 20% discount for my readers through @rainforestexpeditions .

Hereβs the thingβ¦ youβll never know if one of those βcool shotsβ is going to work unless you actually try.
So hereβs your little reminder to get out there, dream big, try new things, and donβt be afraid to look a little cringy along the way. Some of the best adventures start with taking a chanceβ¦ even if the footage doesnβt quite go as planned. π
At this point, I think I could make an entire series out of my failed attempts. #fail #behindthescenes #machupicchu #machupicchupueblo #contentcreater
After 14 days exploring Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and the Amazon, one thing became crystal clear⦠Peru has a way of making you slow down, unplug, and soak it all in. Every region felt like a completely different world, which made this one of our favorite family adventures yet.
If Peru is on your bucket list, our full 14-day itinerary is now live on the blog. I packed it with everything we learned along the way.β¨#peru #perutravel #machupicchu #amazonrainforest #travelinspo
June is one of the very best months to visit Cusco, and honestly, all of Peru.
The weeks leading up to Inti Raymi, the ancient Inca Festival of the Sun, are filled with parades, performances, and celebrations throughout the city.
This footage was taken on June 15th, and as you can see, the festivities were already in full swing. We had no idea when we booked this trip that weβd be visiting during such an exciting time. Talk about perfect timing! Happy Inti Raymi! #cuscoperu #intiraymi #perutravel #traveltips #familytravel
I usually try to post little updates while we travel, but Peru has had us going from morning until night. Thereβs just so much to see, do, and experience.
This country is absolutely incredible and so geographically diverse. Itβs home to a coastal desert, breathtaking mountains, and the Amazon rainforest. And somehow, weβve been lucky enough to experience all three.
I have so much to share from this trip, but for now, Iβm still trying to soak it all in. #peru #travelperu #familytravel #machupicchu #amazonrainforest
Weβre spending three nights in the Peruvian Amazon at Posada Amazonas with @rainforestexpeditions, and it has been one of the coolest experiences our family has ever had.
Believe it or not, the Amazon has actually been the easiest part of our Peru trip! From the planning to the experience itself, itβs been incredibly family-friendly and far less intimidating than we expected.
I have a blog post and videos coming soon with all the details, tips, and what itβs really like staying in the Amazon with kids. Stay tuned! #posadaamazonas #amazonrainforest #perutravel #familytravel #travelwithkids
I think I might officially be in my Indiana Jones era.
At 51, all I want to do is travel, chase adventures, and see and experience everything. When I was a kid, I remember watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and thinking, OMG, I want to be an archaeologist. My friend and I were convinced weβd be the ones to find the Holy Grail somedayβ¦ and then I grew up and realized archaeology might not be as exciting as an Indiana Jones movie. π
Now, standing among ancient ruins in Peru, I feel that same sense of wonder all over again.
Last year, I drove a tuk-tuk across Sri Lanka. This year, Iβm exploring Peru and heading into the Amazon with my family. The adventures keep getting bigger, and Iβm incredibly grateful for every opportunity iβve been given to experience them.
Soβ¦ is 51 too old to reignite an old passion? I donβt think so. If anything, I think the adventure is just beginning. #lifeisanadventure #perutravel #ollantaytambo #familytravel #wanderlust
We made it to Machu Picchu! And yesβ¦ itβs every bit as bucket-list worthy as you imagine.
Honestly, itβs one of those pinch-me moments that almost doesnβt feel real. Photos simply canβt capture the beauty, history, and sheer awe of this place.
Weβre spending 14 days exploring Peru with the kids, and Iβm gathering as many tips, tricks, and itinerary ideas as I can to share with you soon.
For now, Iβm putting my phone down when I can, taking it all in, and feeling incredibly grateful to be here. Follow along in my stories as our Peru adventure continues. π΅πͺ #machupicchu #bucketlistplaces #travelperu #familytravel #travelwithkids
