If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: The best food on Maui is always worth a little effort.…

If you’re planning a trip to Maui, let’s talk about something just as important as beaches and sunsets… the food.

Because Maui isn’t just beautiful, it’s delicious. From legendary cinnamon rolls worth a two-hour wait to fresh poke, oceanfront breakfasts, and unforgettable food trucks, this island seriously delivers when it comes to eating well.

One thing to note is that many of our favorite spots are on the west side of Maui, especially around Napili, Kaanapali, and Kapalua. It’s our go-to area when we visit, not just for the incredible beaches, but also for the amazing concentration of casual eats, local gems, and some of our all-time favorite restaurants on the island.

That said, we’ve included a few must-stop spots across Maui (because some bites are worth the drive).

After multiple trips (and plenty of “research”), we’ve rounded up our favorite bites on Maui. These are the places we go back to again and again, and the ones we still think about long after we leave.

So come hungry, because these are the must-try spots on Maui you won’t want to miss.

1. The Famous Cinnamon Rolls at Papi’s Ohana

If you’re searching for the best cinnamon roll on Maui, this is it.
Yes, the wait can be long (we’re talking hours sometimes), but this isn’t just hype, it’s the real deal. These cinnamon rolls are massive, buttery, perfectly soft, and absolutely loaded with flavor. It’s the kind of treat you plan your morning around.
Tip: This is one of the most talked-about sweet treats on Maui. Get there early because they do sell out.

2. Best Açaí Bowl: Jaws Country Store

Driving the Road to Hana? This is one of the best and first food stops along the way.
Their açaí bowl is easily one of the best I’ve ever had.  It’s fresh, refreshing, and topped with all the goodness you want after a long, winding drive. It’s the perfect mix of healthy and indulgent.

3. Where to Get the Best Poke on Maui: Napili Market

You can’t visit Hawaii without eating poke, and Napili Market does it right.
With a huge variety of fresh options, this is one of the best places for poke on Maui. Everything is made fresh daily, and it’s perfect for a quick lunch or a beach picnic.
Pro tip: Go early for the best selection.

4. Best Breakfast in Maui: The Gazebo

Looking for the best breakfast spot on Maui? The Gazebo is a must.
Famous for their macadamia nut pancakes (yes, they live up to the hype), this spot is always busy, but worth the wait. Don’t skip the fried rice either.  It’s surprisingly amazing.  The Gazebo sits on the south end of Napili Bay, nestled in the Napili Shores resort.
Quick Tip: If you don’t want to wait in the long line, they do offer carry-out.  Just walk around back and place your order.

5. Oceanfront Dining at Sea House Restaurant

For one of the best oceanfront restaurants on Maui, head to the Sea House on Napili Bay.
We love this place for every meal of the day, but breakfast is a standout. The Honolua breakfast with kalua pork is packed with flavor, and the setting? Absolutely stunning.
This is one of those places where you slow down, soak in the view, and really enjoy the moment.

6. A Must-Stop Dessert: Coconut Glen’s

If you love coconut, Coconut Glen’s is a must.
Their coconut ice cream is vegan, incredibly creamy, and full of tropical flavor. Even if you’re not dairy-free, you’ll love it. They currently have a few locations on Maui.  We tried it at both the Napili Farmer’s Market and on the road to Hana, and both locations were fantastic.

7. Best Food Trucks on Maui: Chunky’s Paniolo BBQ

Maui’s food truck scene is so good, and Chunky’s Paniolo BBQ is one of the best.
If you’re craving BBQ, this is your spot. Think fall-off-the-bone meat, bold flavors, and generous portions. It’s casual, delicious, and unforgettable.  Our favorite is the BBQ ribs, seriously, so good!
Chunky’s Paniolo is located at the Honoapiilani Food Truck Park in North Kaanapali.

8. Best Mexican Food on Maui: Sergio’s Cantina

Yes, even in Hawaii, sometimes you just need tacos.
Sergio’s Cantina is one of the best Mexican restaurants on Maui, and it’s so good we ate there twice during our last trip. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and consistently delicious.
Sergios is located on Lower Honoapiilani Rd., just across from Kaanapali Shores.

9. Where to Eat near the Maui Airport: Island Fresh Café

Looking for a restaurant near Kahului Airport (OGG)? This is your spot.
Island Fresh Café is just about nine minutes from the airport, making it the perfect first (or last) stop on your trip. Great for breakfast or lunch, with fresh ingredients and a laid-back island vibe.
Tip: Be sure to have them crack open a fresh coconut for you!

10. Best Garlic Shrimp: Kitchen 5315

This is our favorite spot for garlic shrimp.  We actually love all of their Hawaiian plates.
Unfortunately, Kitchen 5315  was closed for renovations during our last trip, so we will have to wait until next time to delight our taste buds with their Hawaiian cuisine.
Kitchen 5315 is located within the Napili Shores Resort on Napili Bay.

11. Best Iconic Maui Dining Experience: Mama’s Fish House

No list of the best restaurants on Maui is complete without Mama’s Fish House.
Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, reservations can be tough. But the experience? Completely worth it.
From the stunning oceanfront setting to the incredible service and unforgettable food, this is a true bucket-list dining experience.

The Best Food in Maui is Worth the Wait

If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: The best food on Maui is always worth a little effort. Whether it’s waiting in line for that perfect cinnamon roll, stopping at a roadside stand on the Road to Hana, or planning ahead for a special dinner, these moments become part of the magic of the trip.

So don’t rush it.

Try everything.

Go back for seconds.

Because in Maui, the food isn’t just a meal… It’s part of the adventure.
