Has spring sprung where you are? Or are you still in the midst of winter?
One of the things I love most about living in California is our abbreviated winter. Everything is already starting to bloom here. I love that the leaves are back on the trees, spring flowers are popping up everywhere, and the days are finally getting a little longer.
This photo was taken in the orchid room at teamLab Planets in Tokyo, one of the most beautiful and immersive exhibits in the museum. The entire space is filled with thousands of floating orchids that gently rise and fall around you as you walk through. It feels a little like stepping into spring... even if it’s still winter outside.

This is a Foucault Pendulum located inside the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. It demonstrates Earth’s rotation by maintaining its plane of motion while the Earth moves beneath it, which is why it slowly knocks the pins down over time. Each pin falls roughly every 30 - 40 minutes.
And for those wondering how it keeps swinging:
It’s kept in motion by a small electromagnetic drive that gently offsets friction and air resistance.

Tucked inside the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco is the stunning Osher Rainforest. It’s a four-story, indoor rainforest wrapped in a massive 90ft glass dome. And yes, it’s just as magical as it sounds.
We were all completely blown away. My daughter had visited years ago with the Girl Scouts, but it was the first time for the rest of us.
If you’re planning a trip to San Francisco, this Museum is absolutely worth adding to your list. Why pay $9 for a single cable car ride when $15 gives you a full day of riding the rails around San Francisco?
Riding the cable cars is still one of our favorite things to do every time we’re in the city. The Muni 1-day pass lets you hop on and hop off, slow down, and really take your time soaking it all in.
There are three different cable car lines to choose from - the Powell–Hyde line (hello, incredible views), the Powell–Mason line, and the California Street line. You can see completely different parts of the city just by switching routes. It’s such an easy (and iconic) way to explore without worrying about parking or traffic.

Here’s a tuk tuk tip: don’t forget to pack a speaker! We didn’t get a speaker until the last day of our trip and it was a total game changer. We both agreed that having a speaker would’ve made the entire trip even better. I mean, honestly, what’s a road trip without tunes?!

How are you when plans change or get cancelled?
Are you the “I’ll roll with it” type?
Or do you immediately need to fill the empty space with a new backup plan? 🙋🏼♀️
The kids have the entire week off and our original plan was to head up to Sequoia National Park to see the big trees… but a major winter storm decided otherwise. So the giants will have to wait a little longer this year.
We tossed around the idea of going back to Disneyland for a few days, but it’s supposed to rain there too, and honestly, we were just there. As magical as it is, even I can admit we probably don’t need another churro this month. (Okay… maybe we do.)
Now I’m debating a quick road trip somewhere with better weather… or leaning into some fun day trips around San Francisco and exploring more of what our own backyard has to offer. The catch? Rain. And not the cute, cozy kind. The cold, full-on torrential, sideways, “why is this happening” kind.
Normally I don’t let rain stop me. But lately these winter storms have been on the heavy side, and I’m officially at a loss.
So tell me, what would you do?
Embrace the storm? Pivot to somewhere sunny? Or hunker down and create the coziest staycation ever?
