Aloha! I’ve been quiet online for the past week because I’ve been spending the first week of my fifties here in Paradise.

A girls trip to Oahu was the perfect way to ring in this new decade. We’ve been having the best time trying to see everything there is to see here on this beautiful island. Even though I’m supposed to be relaxing, I’ve already started writing my blog post about our five day itinerary here.

Three days ago I got new bifocals, two days ago I had to increase the font size on my phone, yesterday I got my first letter from AARP, and today I turned 50! I’m kind of afraid to see what tomorrow brings.

For better or for worse, this is 50. I still haven’t quite wrapped my head around it. In my mind I’m still only about 29. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for each of those 50 years and the life I’ve lived thus far. I’ve been in Chicago and Indiana this week for a family emergency, and the only decent flights available were first thing in the morning. As I sit at Midway airport, groggy and tired, I’m realizing that I have mixed feelings about early morning flights. I appreciate getting to my destination earlier in the day, but getting up at the crack of dawn is just no fun. I think my favorite time of day to fly is probably mid to late morning. How about you?
